Herbed Makhana

Who doesn’t like roasted makhanas? Here, we have enhanced this healthy and poppy snack by roasting it in oil. Kids love the peppy flavours of the mixed herbs and chilli flakes, which give the makhanas a nice and exotic touch. Make a whole batch of Herbed Makhanas and store it in an air-tight jar, so you can send it to school in the snack box. It will also save you some time in the morning on hurried days when you do not have time to prepare a snack for short break

Ingredients

 

  • 4 cups lotus seeds(makhanas)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt to taste

    To Be Mixed Into A Herbed Mixture
  • 1& 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1& 1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
    saltto taste

 

Method 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the makhanas and a little salt and sauté on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from the flame, combine the makhanas and the prepared herb mixture immediately in a deep bowl and mix well.


How to pack

  1. Allow the mixture to cool completely, and pack in an air-tight tiffin box.
